Dragon Boat Festival, also known as Duanwu Festival, is a traditional Chinese festival that is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. This year, it falls on June 14th.

The festival commemorates the patriotic poet Qu Yuan who lived during the Warring States period in ancient China. Qu Yuan was a loyal minister who was banished from his kingdom due to false accusations of treason. He drowned himself in the Miluo River in Hunan Province to protest against the corrupt government. The people who admired him raced their boats to the location where he drowned and threw rice dumplings into the river to prevent fish from eating his body.

To celebrate this festival, people usually eat Zongzi, a traditional Chinese food made of glutinous rice and various fillings wrapped in bamboo leaves. The filling can be sweet or savory, such as pork belly, red bean paste, or salted egg yolk. People also race dragon boats, which are long and narrow boats decorated with dragon heads and tails. The races are accompanied by the beating of drums and the chanting of the participants.

On the hand-written poster, we can draw a picture of a dragon boat with the Chinese characters for "Dragon Boat Festival" on top. We can also include pictures of Zongzi and Qu Yuan. We can write a short paragraph explaining the significance of the festival and how it is celebrated. This will help others to learn about and appreciate this important aspect of Chinese culture.
