Once upon a time, there was a Roman priest named Valentine who lived during the reign of Emperor Claudius II. The emperor had banned marriages because he believed that single men made better soldiers. However, Valentine believed in love and continued to perform marriages in secret. When he was caught, he was sentenced to death. While in prison, he fell in love with the jailer's daughter and wrote her a letter signed "From your Valentine" as a farewell before his execution on February 14th, 269 AD. This tradition of expressing love on Valentine's Day has continued to this day, and people around the world celebrate this special day with their loved ones.
